This house was saved from the fire though the vegetation around it was destroyed.

Firefighters are battling to contain a blaze that has entered its third day at Pringle Bay. On Facebook, Overstrand Municipal Manager, Dean O’Neill, said that there are fires between Pringle Bay and Betty’s Bay and in the Gansbaai area.

The previous day O’Neill said that 783 hectares had been burnt and that there were four active fires. “120 firefighters, 30 vehicles and three helicopters are involved in firefighting efforts,” he wrote.

No deaths have been reported. As far as we can tell, a couple of houses have been burnt. Pringle Bay residents had to evacuate temporarily on Tuesday but have since been allowed to return to their homes.

Firefighters try to control the fire on Highlevel road in Hangklip. The fire made its way up the mountain but no houses were in immediate danger at this location.

These two houses were burnt.

Baboons ran about the ruins.
