The commission of inquiry into the Lwandle evictions has invited members of the public to attend its final hearing in Cape Town on Friday.
The hearing will give an opportunity to a number of parties, including members of the public and the ANC in the province, to give oral submissions in support of written statements already handed to the commission.
The inquiry was convened by Minister for Human Settlements Lindiwe Sisulu after hundreds of families were evicted from a parcel of land owned by the SA National Roads Agency Ltd (SANRAL) in June.
Recent sittings of the Inquiry have focussed on police’s violent enforcement of the evictions.
Friday’s hearings will start at 10am at the Good Hope Sub-Council Building, 44 Wale Street, Cape Town. Due to space limitations, members of the public who wish to attend will be accommodated on a first come first serve basis.
